The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47 in Weyburn recently received the Provincial Veterans Support Grant, allowing them to continue upgrades to their building. This time around, the branch will be renovating the ceiling of the lounge, however, this does mean that the current, painted tiles will be removed and replaced with new, white tiles.

For those that don't know, the tiles on the ceiling of the lounge have been painted with different names, drawings, and other memories. One even marking a frequent customer's seat. Secretary Manager Connie Nightingale says that the current ceiling tiles have been there since before she began to work there over a decade ago.

For those who have a sentimental attachment to these tiles, there is an option to collect ones that hold meaning.

"Anyone that's interested in collecting these tiles, just come down to the Legion," added Nightingale. "You can make arrangements with the bartenders, myself or with our volunteers."

She also adds that it is recommended to make a donation when picking up one of the tiles as the money will go towards the myriad of renovations at the South Saskatchewan Regiment Lounge.
