The outdoor pool at the Weyburn Leisure Centre is now closed for the year and unlike last summer they were kept quite busy all throughout the season.

"Our numbers were really good this summer," told Tina Clay, Program Manager with the City of Weyburn. "In July we had a lot of people through the building for swimming lessons and public swim times. With the temperature being a little bit cooler in August and there being more rainy days the numbers were a little bit down but we still obviously had a better turnout this summer as opposed to last summer."

Last month it was announced that the Weyburn Leisure Centre would be installing a new UV Light Filtration System to help kill bad bacteria and viruses and to help them reduce the number of chemicals that are currently needed for this. (Read more HERE)

"So the UV system has been ordered but we still don't have the supplies yet," Clay explained. "If shipping permits we're planning on completing the installations over the Christmas break."

As well the indoor pool at the Leisure Centre will officially open up to the public again on Monday, September 13th.
