The Weyburn Movie theatre has been closed for over a week.

The sign on the door and notice on the theatre's website explains the temporary closure is for maintenance.

"The heating system has failed," explained Jack Gardner, Vice-President of Marketing for Landmark Cinemas.

"We are doing an audit to see if the system can be repaired, the existing system or if we are going to have to investigate putting in a new system.

Gardner said that there are people looking at it and they do not have a timeline of how long it is going to take.

"If you have ever renovated a house or if you have had a furnace cold you know how those things can be, you get in there and sometimes you start going through it and you find more than what you expected and that s where we are right now."

"People are looking to go to a movie theatre to have a great experience and to escape the cold and whats outside the door so I don't think to bring the outside in, is a really good idea," added Gardner.

The Landmark Cinemas takeover by Kinepolis, A Belgian company is still on track and in process.
