The Weyburn Police Service is looking to return something valuable to its rightful owner.

Last Thursday, a concerned citizen turned in a sizeable amount of cash to police, after finding it in the parking lot. Now, police are looking for the owner.

Inspector Rod Stafford with the Weyburn Police Service says it isn’t as simple as walking right in and saying you lost the money, though.

“Cash in and of itself isn’t identifiable, so you’re going to have to come in with where it was lost, and what it was in,” Stafford explained.

Once the owner is identified, the money will then be held for a short period of time afterward, according to Stafford. It will then be released back to the rightful owner.

If you have lost a significant amount of cash, you can contact the Weyburn Police Service at (306) 848-3250 to see if the money is yours.
