Nine women of Weyburn were honoured by the community on Sunday.

The 2017 Quota Women of the Year nominees were announced during an afternoon tea held at Grace United Church in their honour.

The two nominees for the Weyburn Credit Union Workplace Excellence Award category include:

  • Jacquie Becker for her commitment to her work with places like the Southeast College and her volunteerism with the Radville and District Health Centre Foundation
  • Jacqui Spence for her dedication to teaching young children, expanding access to education for families and her years spent with the Weyburn Co-operative Playschool

The three nominees for the Access Communications exceptional entrepreneur category include:

  • Susan Fleck who opened her own private physiotherapy clinic in Weyburn, Centered Physiotherapy and Yoga
  • Harmony Melnychuk who established Beautiforever Permanent Makeup, which provides clients with specialized needs
  • Christy Sanderson the owner of Old Fashion Foods which recently expanded to a new location

The two nominees for the Hoffman and Associates Private Wealth Management Women of Distinction category include:

  • Megan Nimegeers who has a prominent role within the Weyburn Credit Union and had expanded the sport of cheerleading within Weyburn
  • Dr. Nichol Thomson who is a chripractor at the Riverside Chiropractic Clinic and has helped to expand the sport of soccer within Weyburn

The two nominees for the M. Isabelle Butters Quota International of Weyburn Community Service Award include:

  • Tracey Rothwell who was nominated for her passion, dedication and expansion of synchronized swimming in Weyburn
  • Krista Sandney who was nominated for her passion, dedication and expansion of women's rolley derby in Weyburn
