The Weyburn Red Wings had a busy weekend on and off the ice. They put down their hockey sticks and picked up serving trays for a fundraiser at KFC.

"It's a community sport so it's really good to see them out in the community, showing their faces and saying hi, you don't usually get to see them face to face a lot so it's really good to see them up close and personal," says Samantha Tindall, Red Wings fan who attended the fundraiser.

The Wings helped serve food and take orders as well as taking time to converse with their fans.

"It's been pretty busy, almost all the seats are filled so it's a nice turnout and just nice to get out into the community and meet some new people," says Cade Kowalski, Weyburn Red Wing.

Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. saw $5 from every buffet meal sold going to the Weyburn Red Wings to help them pay for items like road trips.
