Yesterday morning saw young and old gathered to honour those who fought for our freedom.

The morning started with a parade comprised of veterans, cadets, Weyburn Police, Weyburn Firefighters, and much more. The parade ended at the Cenotaph where numerous wreaths were laid in a beautiful yet sombre ceremony. Followed by an indoor ceremony featuring moving songs from the "Variations" choir.

"From the mighty fields of Europe, the cold waters of the Atlantic, the deserts of Kandahar and all the peacekeeping missions in between, let us never forget their bravery and their sacrifice, lest we forget," said Dustin Duncan MLA Weyburn-Big Muddy.

Remembrance Day allows us to take a moment and pay tribute to those who fought and are still fighting for our comfort and safety. Citizens of Weyburn will continue to express their gratitude on Remembrance Day and teach this practice for generations to come.

"The passage of time cannot dim our memories, the effects of war reach further than any border or country," says Mayor Marcel Roy. "We must work to ensure all generations continue to understand the sacrifices that were made by those before them, so that we may never forget."

It is hard for many of us to fathom the hardships of the many servicemen and women who put their lives on the line. Many never came home and those that did will never forget. Weyburn will never forget everything these soldiers, throughout history, have done for us.
