It's Teacher and Staff Appreciation week in the province. Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week has been celebrated across Canada for the past 33 years, and here the day of recognition is organized by the Saskatchewan Association of School Councils.

The students of Weyburn Comprehensive School honoured these key players earlier this week.

"The SRC provided food and snacks for staff this week to show appreciation," said Principal Ryan Fowler. "The school division also provided just a thank you of food in appreciation of the work that our folks are doing within the school to help our students be successful."

He noted they'll also be doing a lunch for teachers and staff tomorrow for their around 100 staff, which includes teachers.

"It takes everybody in the school to make the place run and to provide education for our students, whether it's teachers in front of the students teaching or assessing, caretakers keeping the building looking good, bus drivers getting kids to and from school, library techs working with students in the library, E.A.s, secretaries working with students in their capacity, facility, Driver Ed, counsellors, everybody," he listed. "So it's a huge undertaking for everybody that's here and they're all committed to the students' success."

The theme of this year's week of recognition is 'Bringing Learning to Life', as they support the more than 190,000 Pre-K to Grade 12 students in the province.

Southeast College also celebrated the week, with gift cards being given to each staff member as a token of appreciation.

"We have a great staff and we have great folks we get to come and work with every day it is really nice to be recognized and have a little focus on that," said Sheena Onrait, Marketing and Communications Manager iwth Southeast College.

"You kind of go about your daily thing, your business as usual and doing your job, and focusing on the students, so it's nice to focus on your staff," she added.
