Weyburn's street and roads are about to get a fresh coat of lines painted on.

Claude Morin, Superintendent of Public Works and Parks, said line painting is done at least once a year and, in some areas, twice. The first coat is usually done in the spring and the second coat, if and where it is needed, is done shortly before children return to school.

Line painting didn't always need to be done every year.

"We're very limited through environmental regulations what type of paint we (can) use. Back in the day, if I can use that term, we used to use an oil based paint that we did have better longevity of the paint," said Morin.

Line West, LTd., the company contracted to do the line painting, is expected to start their work in the Opportunity City very soon. Line West has a three-year contract with the city and is currently in year two of the contract.

Most of their work will be done overnight and should not interrupt residents.
