An actor from Weyburn has been having success in gaining roles in television, movies and theatre productions since 2005.

Trenna Keating's biggest and longest role so far has been starring in the science fiction series Defiance which ran for three seasons in 2013-2015, playing the character Doc Yewll.

Keating moved to Toronto with her husband eight years ago having lived in Regina where she worked in casting. She also had the opportunity to be in the movie 'Just Friends' alongside Ryan Reynolds, Amy Smart and Anna Faris in 2005.

Keating has had parts in TV shows including Corner Gas, Little Mosque on the Prairie, Combat Hospital, The Listener, Murdoch Mysteries, Orphan Black, 12 Monkeys, Dark Matter and Cardinal.

Cardinal gave Keating the opportunity to bring two career paths together.

"I absolutely love cop dramas."

"Shows like Cardinal, which I had a small part in last season, but I wasn't a cop. But being around on that set I was like "I would love to be a Lead on a detective show."

"You get the same costume every day, you get to learn things about that world. If I hadn't gone into acting I would have gone into criminology."

Last year, Keating played the role of Prime Minister Kim Campbell in The Death of Mrs Ghandi and the Beginning of New Physics at the Factory Theatre in Toronto.

Keating's next role will be in the second season of Workin' Moms which airs next week on CBC.
