A 37-year old man from Yellow Grass has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a Yellow Grass woman, 33 year old Abbie Speir.

According to RCMP, Kevin Obina Okafor was arrested near Swift Current Thursday night.

He has been charged with first degree murder, fleeing a police officer, and dangerous use of a motor vehicle.

Speir's body was found after emergency crews responded to a small house fire at 307 Brome Street in Yellow Grass Thursday night.

Police say Okafor and Speir know each other.

Okafor will appear in court in Regina Monday morning.
