It's Communithon week here in the Opportunity City and we are continuing our look into the member agencies that benefit from the annual event.

Today we were joined by Myron Fletcher of the Weyburn Care-A-Van Society.

"We're the only publicly offered, wheelchair accessible vehicle for Weyburn," said Fletcher. "We have a bus that takes wheelchairs and has a lift on it and it works around town and we have a van with a ramp in the back and it's for going out of town."

The bus is operated by an employee while the van is rentable for those in the community.

"The Weyburn United Way gives us quarterly donation to help us operate," said Fletcher. "This year's funds are operational. In 2017 we purchased a new bus with grants from the Government and private donations. So we have a new bus now so our maintenance fees will be down so it's just getting back to being operational."

Fletcher noted how much he enjoys the Communithon, including the performances from the school kids.

"United Way does wonderful things for our community," he said. "We're needed, Communithon is needed, the Weyburn United Way is needed and please give your donations because it sure helps us."

Communithon runs October 19th at the Cugnet Centre.
