This (Weyburn Wheat Festival) weekend, the CROCUS 80 (YOUTH) Theatre Production takes the stage for a total of three shows.  Last night, the production premiered, and they are excited to have two more opportunities for you to attend.

They will perform, TODAY AND SUNDAY, with a 2pm curtain call, at the TOMMY DOUGLAS CENTRE.

They are hoping for a good turnout, to showcase all the hard work they have done.

The final numbers are in, and there are 15 local youth on stage for this successful production, plus, many working behind the scenes.  This production has been in the works since the casting call at the end of June.  They have been practising 2x/wk throughout July, and more, in August, for final tweeks and oversights.

The youth have been memorizing lines on their own time.  They work on theatrical techniques during regular practise times.

They are learning the importance of projecting the voice (the acoustics there are AMAZING!!!), stage blocking (do not block the view from the audience to another character, and, the art of facing the audience).

Very importantly, they are learning how to work as a team, as even when they are off the stage, they have been given roles behind the scenes (prop manager, prompter, etc).

The greatest lesson is confidence to perform in front of a crowd.

Even the youth who appear most shy, will delight you, as they shine just as brightly as anyone.

This is ONE event, in this year's WEYBURN WHEAT FESTIVAL's schedule of events.

Many kids from Crocus 80's Summer (2017) Youth Theatre, used what they had learned to compete in THEATREFEST 2018, which was held in Weyburn this spring.  It was an opportunity that doesn't come around often, as THEATREFEST is hosted by many Saskatchewan Troupes, and travelling with youth to competitions has it's roadblocks.  Festival is different than other productions because they are adjudicated (see the highlights), and have the opportunity to take home awards!!! (Crocus 80 Troupe are the first youth in Theatrefest HISTORY to take home an award)

NB:  Don't forget to add your events, asap, so we can get the community excited to attend...
