Out of approximately 400 hopefuls, 13 athletes from Weyburn and surrounding area were selected to be part of the South Sask Selects football 11u, 12u, 14u and varsity teams.

What that means for these hardworking youth, is that they will be participating in the 7th annual Pigskin International Tournament in San Antonio, Texas from February 20th to the 25th of this year.

This is a huge opportunity for these young athletes and they are more than excited about it. You can learn more about the tournament and fundraiser in the audio interview with Ben Michel (Varsity SSS Team) and Cash Cuthbert (14u SSS Team) below.

This Saturday, January 12 they will be hosting a fundraiser supper to help with the costs of the camp, travel and stay while in San Antonio. Tickets for the supper are $25 each. There will be a cash bar throughout the night, as well as a silent auction, 50/50 and raffle tables.

The fundraiser will be taking place at Knox Fellowship Hall in Weyburn. With cocktails starting at 5pm and the supper commencing at 6pm. Supper includes prime rib, potatoes, salads, and coffee or juice.

There will be guest speakers at the event as well. With Saskatchewan Roughrider Defensive Lineman Eddie Steele headlining the night.
