The Weyburn Youth Center became a part of Weyburn in 1992, and the Drop-In opened in 1994, 25 years ago.

And in 2001 Brian Hopfe was hired as the Executive Director here in Weyburn.

The adjoining Skate Park was built in 2005 and modernizing building renovations happened in 2008. Then this year they made a number of new renovations to the building and surrounding area as well with the help of a number of local individuals.

One of the regular events put on by the Weyburn Youth Center is their TAGS drop-in youth nights that happen most Friday and Saturday nights in the opportunity city.

"We'd love to have the kids come down to our TAGS kick off night on Friday, September 13th," exclaimed Hopfe. "Grades five to grade twelve and the time is from seven in the evening till 10:30pm."

TAGS is a safe environment for youth that offers a number of fun events, games and more.

"We have pool tables, air hockey, foosball, video games, board games and even a canteen for snacks," added Hopfe. "Basically everything a kid would want to play with and there is no cost, unless they wanted to purchase something from the concession stand."

They also have a gym that is now re-opened after recent renovations where they can play organized sports and hold events as well.

"Sometimes we play games like floor hockey or extreme dodge ball," Hopfe told. "Normally it's just come and go and see what's going on, and play games with your friends. Sometimes if there's a football or hockey game on we might watch it together on the TV."

TAGS will be open this Friday & Saturday from 7pm till 10:30pm at the Weyburn Youth Center (for grades 5-12), which is located at 301 Coteau Ave West in Weyburn.

TAGS will be running every Friday & Saturday through the fall/winter/spring seasons. Only to be closed on long weekends or during extreme weather conditions.
