Halloween was an overall fun night for members of the Weyburn Police Service.

"We had a blast," said Police Chief Jamie Blunden. "Members here at the police service were handing out the candies at the front door, and we also had members out in the street."

For some local children, this may have been quite scary, if not just intimidating.

One off-duty member, Blunden noted, came in dressed in prisoner stripes.

"You know they were pulling kids over and giving them out tickets for looking too crazy of an outfit or just too spooky," he shared. "Then on top of that, they were giving out candy, so it was a real fun night by everybody including our officers."

Chief Blunden said last week was busier than usual.

"It's unfortunate we did have a busy week, you know our normal week, on average, is right around the 85 calls," he shared. "Over the last six to seven weeks, the calls for service have been in that 85 or lower. This week was a little higher. We had 104. So it was a busier week. Halloween played a part of that."

Surprisingly, the police didn't get any calls about the insane clown posse that visited several local residences that night. A crew from Mayhem Manor, who couldn't haunt at home, decided to take the show on the road.

"I don't believe we got calls over with respect to that, but good on them for doing that," commented the Chief.
