As Christmas approaches Crocus 80 Theatre is proud to deliver the timeless classic, The Gift of the Magi. The short story was originally penned by O. Henry in 1905, however, local playwright, Wendy Sidloski has adapted the timeless tale for the stage.

Director Bernadette Mullen shares more details, “The Gift of the Magi is a beautiful story about poverty, the spirit of giving, and ultimately love and sacrifice, it’s really the perfect story celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.”

Mullen also shared that the board of Crocus 80 was all in agreement because not only will this production showcase the talent of local actors but also the talent of a local writer, which is something new for Crocus 80.

“It’s not every day we can celebrate the talents of a local writer and we are so excited for the opportunity. And to add to the excitement the very talented Colleen Weimer has agreed to direct the choir so you know its going to be a fantastic show!"

Auditions for the beloved story will be held at the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre on Saturday, November 4th from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and again on Tuesday, November 7th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

“We welcome all interested actors to audition, ages for the characters are from mid-teens and up,” added Mullen.
