The Weyburn Oilwomen will be holding one of their two biggest fundraisers of the year next month, with A New King is Born. It'll be held at McKenna Hall on December 9th.

The cabaret-style concert event will feature a three-set performance by Weyburn's own Brayden King.

King said he's excited to come back to Weyburn and for the event.

"We've got a full band, and we'll be playing three sets, so we're going to be rocking all night long."

Acting Chair with the Weyburn Oilwomen, Carmen Sterling, said they are quite looking forward to the show.

"We're excited to have a hometown boy coming back to Weyburn and to put on this presentation for us, which is one of two major fundraisers that we do to raise funds that we give back to the community, and we've been really lucky to have Weyburn Dodge sign on as our title sponsor for the event this year."

Tickets are selling fast, and they're $80 each or $600 for a table of eight.

"We're serving appetizers partway through the evening and then Brayden's entertaining us with a few sets during the evening," she noted. "It's going to be a great evening. It's well-suited to coming out with your friends or your family or your coworkers. It is going to be some unforgettable music and really the kickoff to a holiday season. We're looking forward to having a good turnout."

"We have some raffles and auctions and we have some really great prizes up for grabs. We always have great support from the business community for all of our events, and we still have opportunities for sponsorship there," invited Sterling. "If there's anyone who's interested, they can reach out to us on in that regard. Sponsorship opportunities do give you an opportunity to sponsor and also receive a table, depending on the level of sponsorship that you provide."

She said Brayden's music is easy to sing along to, because he plays songs many grew up listening to, "and then there's a lot of younger people that are really kind of enamored with that older music as well. So I think it's really he's quite appealing at all different ages."

These events usually sell out quickly, so she encourages anyone interested to get theirs by emailing weyburnoilwomen@gmail.com or by calling 306-861-8235.

Auction and raffle prizes include staycation packages, hockey tickets, travel vouchers, and more.

She thanked Weyburn Dodge for stepping up as title sponsor, as "Jeff [Tosczak] has always been a great supporter of the Oilwomen and he stepped up this year as our title sponsor for our event. So he was our first sponsor and then we've had a number of businesses that have stepped up with our black gold and our platinum sponsors."
