The Bantam AA Whitecap Resource Wings split their weekend, as they entertained Martensville Saturday, and travelled to Regina on Sunday. The game at home would be a win for the Martensville Marauders, while the Wings beat the Regina Aces Sunday afternoon.

In the game Saturday, the Marauders would score two goals in each period en route to the win.

The scoring opened at the 4:40 mark of the opening period when Wyatt Wrutz found the back of the net for Martensville. Before the halfway mark of the period, though, the Wings would respond.

Carter Skarbon found the back of the net with 10:17 left to play, drawing the game even 1-1. Noel Englot and Quinn Mantei assisted on the goal.

The draw wouldn’t survive the period, though, as Tysen Durant gave the Marauders the lead with 1:49 left to play.

Martensville would open up the lead at the 4:04 mark of the second as Easton Adrian scored. Cole Peardon then made it a 4-1 game in favour of the road team with 6:36 left to play.

Just 36 seconds after the goal from Peardon, though, Weyburn responded.

Quinn Mantei scored to cut the lead to two goals. The assists on the goal went to Blaze Gutzke and Noel ENglot.

In the third period, the Marauders put the game away with goals from Shaidon Yuzik and Durant.

The Wings looked to bounce back Sunday when they travelled to the Al Ritchie Arena in Regina to take on the Aces.

Ryan Hicks would turn aside 44 shots to help power Weyburn to a 2-1 victory.

The scoring didn’t start until the second period. That was when Quinn Mantei scored his second goal of the weekend at the 7:38 mark to make it 1-0. Englot had the assist on the goal. It was then followed up by a power-play goal from Sutter Balog with 4:32 to play in the second. Mantei and Englot had the assists.

In the third period, Jett Lamb scored the lone goal Hicks would allow in to make it a 2-1 final.

With the split on the weekend, the Wings are now 13-12-1-1 on the season and are sixth in the South Division of the SAAHL.

The Bantam AA Wings have a bit of time off from league action before they open a busy weekend starting February 21st, where they will play four games over five days, three of those on the road.
