The U13 AA Southeast Young Fellow Gold Wings made SaskFHL history Friday night, as they skated to a 1-0 overtime win over the Regina Rebels in game two of their best-of-three South Division final. The two teams would finish regulation tied 0-0 and would end up playing another game and a half of overtime, with Ayla Spagrud scoring the game-winner just moments into the 5th overtime period. The 131 minutes of hockey is the longest game in any of the AA age divisions in the league.

"This game was long, but it's been a whole couple rounds of games that have been long like this," said Gold Wings head coach Jeff Walkeden after the game. "It's been a long, long stretch, and the girls have dug deep and battled every game."

This was by no stretch the first overtime game of the postseason for the Gold Wings. In the second round of the playoffs, against the Regina Rebels White squad, the Gold Wings would play two overtime games - one would go to quadruple overtime and the other double overtime.

While the Southeast team had some puck luck on their side, it didn't overshadow the performance of goaltender Baya Summers. She turned aside 84 shots for the win.

The Gold Wings won't get much rest, either.

"It's gonna be a day and a half rest, and then it's back to the rink," Walkeden said, as game three will be played Sunday in Regina, with puck drop at 12:30 p.m.
