Get ready to go to the park...the ballpark that is! Beaver's season is right around the corner!

Jordan Szczecinski stopped by the studio to give us the complete rundown ahead of ball season, starting with something they are still in need off.

"We're still short just a few (billet) families," said Szczecinski. "We know the City of Weyburn always pulls through for us but we're still just waiting for those 3 or 4 more spots".

Billet families receive a compensation package that includes monthly payments, a package from Western Prime, a Boston Pizza discount card and, of course, tickets to all of the home games. If you are interested in billeting, you can find more information here.

Along with billets, the team is also in need of game day volunteers.

"As many people in town have noticed, we've greatly expanded the game," Szczencinski commented. "With that, obviously comes the need for more manpower."

She noted that volunteers are needed for many aspects of the game, from merchandise sales to activities on the field and birthdays and windups. As well, individuals can volunteer for one or all of the games, whatever works best for them.

She also took a second to chat about their team windups and birthday parties.

"Windups are something that have really blown up with us, they have gone over so well".

Teams are invited to get a hold of Jordan on the Facebook page to book their windups, which include free admission to the game for all players and 2 coaches, as well as the players being teamed up with a Beaver player on field for "O Canada". As well, they accept birthday party bookings. For $150, eight children and two adults get in to the game with reserved seating in Luffy's Lounge along with a hot dog meal and the birthday kid gets to be on field for "O Canada" and will receive a gift from the team.

Szczecinski also mentioned a few events they have coming up, starting with the kids camps. Their free camp will run on May 27th, with the paid camps going July 7th and 14th. Kids get time on the field and work on all the aspects of baseball with the players and coaches. It's $35 a day for the July camps and participants receive a free t-shirt and tickets to the game. Registration is required and forms can be obtained by emailing weyburnbeavers@hotmail.com or by visiting their website.

As for the games, the Beavers home opener is set for June 9th when Moose Jaw comes to town.
