As Weyburn's Brayden King announced via social media last week, he's all done now with American Idol after getting as far as Top 55 in the competition.

"When the show was offering to just fly me down, I was like, 'why would I not go?'. It was like a roll the dice and just see what it was, so the experiences were really, really great. I don't think I'll ever be that nervous to go on stage ever again in my life. I don't know if there will be any other situation that there's nerve wracking as that situation was, especially in Hollywood week."

King said Hollywood Week was actually filmed in December. "But yeah, I I just had to keep it hush hush."
"I got to meet so many great artists and singers and now lifelong friends, that we went through it together and shared some really, really intense and crazy experiences just being there in Hollywood week together."

He said it was a very unique experience, and not what he expected at all.

"It was a lot more intense and tiring, more than I thought, but it was still just so great," King commented. "During the performance challenge and the duet rounds, that whole kind of first four days, not a lot of sleep. Especially for duets."

"We picked our duet partners at 11:00 p.m., we went back to the hotel, we rehearsed until like 4:00 in the morning, and then we had to be up and ready to go at 6:00. So it was like two hours of sleep and then waiting around 12 hours until it was my performance time. It was just crazy. I don't think we performed until like 8:00 p.m. or something like that."

He said they let them rest more after that, "but I think they just want to build a very intense and stressful situation right off the bat and kind of weed out the weak somehow."

King added that today they are announcing a three-week Western Canada Tour, and Weyburn is on the list.

"We're bringing the band for the full three-week tour, so that tour will start in the middle of May. And we'll be coming back to Weyburn at the end of the tour."

But first, he'll be playing a solo show at Pumpjack's in Weyburn this Friday, April 21st.
