The City of Weyburn is going to be bringing families together this Family Day with their annual Winterfest!

"We like to hold it on family just to promote family coming out and spending time together outdoors and continuing to be active during the winter months," said Parks Co-ordinator Linda Prokott. "It's a completely free event."

The event will run on Monday, February 19th from 1:00 until 3:00, mainly located in the West parking lot at Jubilee park and will include cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating, a bonfire and free hot dogs and hot chocolate. The Leisure Centre will also have a free swim from 1:00 until 5:00 and a craft class from 2:00 until 4:00.

In the past, Mother Nature has forced the City to cancel Winterfest, either because it was too cold or because there wasn't enough snow (it was 8 degrees last Family Day). Prokott said that this year there are alternative events in place if the weather doesn't co-operate.

"We just hope that everyone comes out and enjoys the day and activities."
