The Weyburn Leisure Centre will be re-opening after a closure over the weekend. City Manager Mathew Warren provided an update on the situation during Monday night's meeting of Weyburn City Council.

"We had a water main break outside of the building," Warren said of the incident. "We had a clay pipe go on us outside of that property, and so we made sure that we did a proper replacement and cleanup of that."

The water main break had forced the closure of the facility on Thursday. It was hoped the repairs would be completed in time for the weekend, but the work took longer than anticipated. With the cleanup now completed, the leisure centre will be re-opened at 6:15 a.m. Thursday morning.

"(I) just wanted to say a huge thank you to the public for their patience regarding the leisure centre, and a huge thank you to our staff for responding so quickly," said City Councillor Laura Morrissette.
