The City of Weyburn will observe the federal Day of Mourning on Monday, September 19th, which was recently declared by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

This is to honour Queen Elizabeth II on the day of her state funeral.

City Hall and the Public Works facilities will be closed to the public on Monday.

While the landfill will be open and running as per usual on Monday, the refuse collection for Area 3 will be affected by this statutory holiday and the rollover system will apply, such that both Area 3 and Area 4 will be collected on Tuesday, September 20th.

The regular programming at the Weyburn Credit Union Spark Centre, Crescent Point Place, the Tom Zandee Sports Arena, and the Weyburn Leisure Centre, will not be affected.

A Day of Mourning will be observed as a statutory holiday for City employees pursuant to collective agreements with the City of Weyburn. This includes the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Weyburn Professional Fire Fighters Association and out-of-scope employees.

The City of Weyburn thanks the public for its cooperation with the sudden change in services.
