Sharing Kailynn's Sunshine Foundation is collecting feminine hygiene products for Period Purse Regina for women in need.

Last year was the first time the non-profit organization collected items for Period Purse. This year they began collecting things such as pads, tampons and underwear in April, and today is the last day to drop off donations at Pharmasave in Weyburn.

“Pick up is tomorrow actually in Weyburn, and last year we collected 14,638 items I believe,” said Sandra LaRose of Tyvan, who runs Sharing Kailynn's Sunshine Foundation. “It's a great cause and it helps a lot of people. Many of the products that we collected last year went to the family place in Weyburn.”

Sharing Kailynn's Sunshine has set up an Amazon store for the items needed, and Pharmasave is giving a 10 percent discount on donation items purchased in store.

“It's something that doesn’t necessarily take a huge chunk of money out of a person’s pocket who's willing to donate items, but it helps the people who don't have that money in their pocket to buy the items, and it's not something that you can go without.”

LaRose added she is thankful for all of the support she has received from the citizens of Weyburn since her daughter, Kailynn passed away in 2018.

“I had this idea to start a nonprofit in memory of Kailynn, she would be proud. She loved Weyburn, she loved Pharmasave, and she loved the people. Many of the customers of Pharmasave have reached out to me after she passed away to share stories of their interactions with her and it warms my heart and it continues to year after year.”

If anyone is unable to drop off their donation by 9:00 p.m. today, they can contact Sandra LaRose, as they take donations year-round.
