An oilfield company has been fined $150,000 after a serious injury to a worker.

A release sent out by the province Friday morning indicated that Horizon Drilling pled guilty in Carlyle Provincial Court to a violation of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996.

The guilty plea was heard on June 14.

The company was fined for "failing to comply with the duties of an employer at a place of employment including the provision of any information, instruction, training, and supervision that is necessary to protect the health and safety of workers at work, resulting in the serious injury of a worker."

The province said that an additional charge was withdrawn.

The incident happened back on July 19, 2019 near Kisbey, when a worker suffered serious injuries while working on a hydraulic line that was leaking oil.
