We sure could use a nice 2 day rain – that’s the thought these days especially in the ag sector.

Stock Growers from around the province were talking about just how dry things are getting during their AGM this week.

"I think it's province-wide and more severe in other places," said President of Stock Growers, Doug Gillespie. "Early in the year you heard about lots of areas being really wet, but everyone you talk to from all over the province say that it's getting dangerously low, and in some places they're in extremely big trouble. Most of them feel that if there's not some rain on the horizon very quickly that there is going to be a major problem with the feed situation as far as the hay goes. The crops in a lot of places are still not in trouble, and the grass or anyone that had a little more carry-over, that area is not so grim."

There was some discussion yesterday during the Stock Grower meeting that if it gets two dry the board should look at putting in a request to Saskatchewan Parks to open land up for some summer grazing similar to what they have done in the past in Alberta with Suffield.

Golden West Radio’s Drew Lerner says some areas of the Province could see some precipitation in the form of random showers heading into the weekend.
