As of last week, there are now six candidates seeking to lead the Saskatchewan Party. Rob Clark entered the Sask Party Leadership race last week. Clark is a former RCMP Officer and former Member of Parliament under the Conservatives.

"Just the fact that another person is in the race is a great sign for us, it shows that there is a lot of interest in who wants to be the next leader of the Saskatchewan Party," says Dustin Duncan MLA Weyburn - Big Muddy"We have six that are now in the running and I think it's great, you know, the more voices that we get out there, the more people that are interested in leading the party."

Duncan mentions that all six of the candidates have never sought the leadership position before and that really shows how much excitement and interest there is surrounding the party. The NDP is only seeing two candidates as of yet, both of which ran for the same position before.

Duncan also reiterated that his support lies with Scott Moe and that they are happy with how Moe's campaign has been handled thus far.

The candidate debates are already underway seeing debates in Swift Current, Melfort, Saskatoon, and North Battleford. Weyburn will be holding one of the final debates on November 30th, at the Cugnet Centre and Duncan is excited about the opportunity.

"I'm glad that Weyburn was chosen, I think there are only four or five debates in total and I'm glad that Weyburn was chosen to host one of those debates," says Duncan. "I think the race is going great, lots of new ideas are being exchanged by the candidates, I'm happy to see everyone is keeping it a clean race, no one has really gone after each other."

Renewal is never a bad thing and the Sask Party has seen the excitement from more than just the candidates.

"We're seeing new memberships being sold, we're seeing new people come into the party all the time, we're just seeing a lot of enthusiasm," says Duncan. "I think everybody has kind of gotten past that point that of being sad that Premier Wall is leaving and really looking towards the future now and either selecting who their choice is going to be or looking at all the different candidates."

Duncan also commented on the Throne Speech saying Premier Wall isn't one to sit back and wait for the clock to run out. Even though Premier Wall has retired there are still items he wants to finish as there are still bills before the legislature.

The Sask Party has plans to make a 'Made in Saskatchewan Climate Change Plan' that will hopefully see the federal government pulling back on the federally imposed carbon tax. We should be seeing the plan within the next few weeks.

Duncan mentions that with a new leader, plans could change, however, it is nice to see the Sask Party working together and really focusing on the future.
