Weyburn’s E. Bourassa & Sons has been holding barbeque fundraisers throughout the summer, and they have their last one on Thursday.

The funds raised are going toward new Ukrainian families that have moved to Weyburn.

“We've had a barbeque every month in the summer raising money for Ukraine relief,” said Marketing Manager, Britney Fisher. “We would just like to keep those dollars local. As we know, a lot of Ukraine families are coming in and they're looking for furniture and bigger items that might cost a bit more money.”

Laura Eddy as well as volunteers from Southeast Newcomer Services will be helping at the fundraiser.

“I was working with Laura, and she'll be able to help allocate those dollars in the right places.”

Fisher said the first barbeque this summer was a huge success, and the second one had a good turnout. She expects a good turnout on Thursday.

“Especially with our local community members knowing that we're going to keep the dollars here within Weyburn for the new Ukraine families that are here.”

The barbeque takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., outside of E. Bourassa & Sons. It will cost $10 for a burger with chips and a pop.
