Over 120 baseball players are making their way to Weyburn this weekend, as the city hosts the 11U AA Tier 4 provincial championships. The three-day tournament gets underway 12 12:30 p.m. with the first games of the event. All of the games will be played at Jubilee Park.  

The opening games of the round-robin will see the Battlefords Beavers playing the Saskatoon Royal Rush, and the Yorkton Canton Jays taking on the Sask Five Knucklers. Then, at 3:30 p.m., three diamonds at Jubilee Park will be in use, with the Swift Current 57s playing the Saskatoon Astro A’s, the North East Giants take on the Estevan Brewers, and the host Weyburn Beavers play their first game against the Saskatoon Cardinal Crushers.  

At 6:30 p.m. tonight there will be the opening ceremonies for the tournament, as well as a skills competition, which includes a home run derby.  

Play resumes tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. with three games on deck. The Cardinal Crushers play the Canton Jays, the Giants take on the 57s and the Weyburn Beavers play the Knucklers. At 11:00 a.m., the Astro A’s take the diamond against the Brewers, while the Giants play the Battleford Beavers. 

Tomorrow afternoon’s games will see the Royal Rush play the 57s, and the Weyburn Beavers take on the Canton Jays. The late games, which start at 6:00 p.m., will close out the round-robin. They will feature the Knucklers against the Cardinal Crushers, the Brewers facing the Royal Rush and the Astro A’s up against the Battleford Beavers. 

If any tie-breakers are necessary, they will be played Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. Then, the semi-finals will be held at 12:00 p.m., and the finals at 3:00 p.m.
