Charles Hignett has built a reputation in Weyburn for his active involvement in leading the charge for Men's Health each November. His renditions of characters from pop culture are almost as legendary as the cumulative impact of his efforts throughout the years. Since 2011, Hignett has raised $49,512 with his Movember campaigns. This year, he rallied his peers at the Weyburn Fire Department and Weyburn Fire Brigade to join in on the fun.

The team was especially fired up for this round, due to their very own Fire Chief, Trent Lee, going in for surgery earlier in the month. As Movember nears its end, Hignett took a moment to reflect on the journey.

"We've had a great month for raising funds and awareness for Men's Health," he said. "We've got 14 members, both 'Mo Bros' and some sisters in there as well that joined in to raise funds and awareness with us. As a team, we've raised $10,683!"

He added that last year, the team raised over $6,000 and that their goal for this round was set at $5,000. To double that goal is an outstanding feat, but a proper Movember campaign would be incomplete without also encouraging a healthy lifestyle. That is why the team committed to tracking their physical activity throughout the month as well.

"We had set a target of either walking or running, or doing some type of activity, to travel 750 kilometers," explained Hignett. And yeah, we've exceeded that! We're at 776 kilometers of activity; mostly walking, running, or on stationary bikes."

Adding to their list of accomplishments, the team placed high in the Great Canadian Fire Challenge, a friendly competition among Fire Departments across the nation. Out of 170 teams, the 'Weyburn Fire Department MoBros' placed 7th, trailing just a hair's breadth away from the 'Sudbury Firefighters'. As a whole, the Great Canadian Fire Challenge raised $479,268 to support Men's Health.

With the challenges complete and every goal surpassed, the team looks forward to less facial landscaping for the next little while.

"I think Rob Jack's got a pretty cool 'stache, though. Maybe he should keep it," joked Hignett. "Honestly, I'm pretty sure our wives are glad they're coming off soon!"

"I'd just like to thank everybody on the team for joining in and having some fun and raising awareness, and just a special shoutout to Trent, we're all really glad that he's in healthy recovery from his surgery."
