A favourite holiday tradition that's worth being a little bit cold. Enjoy live entertainment while supporting an important cause.

Each year the Holiday Train rolls through cities and towns across North America, to help raise funds and collect food donations for the local food banks.

In Weyburn, the event arrives in the train yard just northeast of the Soo Line Historical Museum, accessible via Railway Avenue.

Around 6:00 the show will begin, with 14 train cars lit up with Christmas spirit, and live music from fan favourite Kelly Prescott and more.

"Every community the Holiday Train goes into all the money and the food that is collected on that night goes right back to our local food bank," explained Community Ministries Coordinator with the Weyburn Salvation Army, Jennifer Lorinczy.

Lorinczy noted items they could use more of include Kraft Dinner, Sidekicks, Hamburger Helper, pastas, sauces, school lunch stuff, canned meat, and canned vegetables.

"We will have our Salvation Army truck on-site, we'll have a table set up, we'll be serving hot chocolate and collecting your food bank donations," she added

Megan Patrick and Tanika Charles are also on the bill for the Holiday Train, which should arrive around 5:45 p.m. on Monday night, with the show from 6:00 to 6:30.
