The Weyburn Humane Society offers our community a huge help by rescuing, protecting, and helping animals in our area.

They do not receive any funding from the government, and they rely heavily on donations and fundraisers just to keep their doors open.

On top of that, they have been fundraising for more than six years now to be able to eventually purchase a new building for their shelter, as their current building is old and falling apart.

"Our present shelter is deteriorating rapidly. We have been repairing it as needed but we really need a new shelter," told Pam Arndt-Schick, President of the Weyburn Humane Society.

So they will be launching an Online Auction Fundraiser on November 18th to hopefully offset some of their regular expenses that keep the shelter running.

"This time we're trying to do things like gift baskets and gift certificates," explained Elizabeth Livingstone, Fundraising Chair for the Weyburn Humane Society. "You can join our group to see all of the items that we have up there for bid. It will be running November 18th to the 21st and we are asking for pick ups to be made no later than the 23rd. And we are still looking for some donations of items to auction off. On November 18th we'll probably start bidding at 9:00 AM."

You can join the WHS Online Paw-ction page on Facebook right now to watch as all of the items are posted before the online fundraiser begins on November 18th. And all of the funds raised will be going back towards the Weyburn Humane Society.

Another way that you can help out our local Humane Society right now is by ordering a shirt or sweater from their online shirt fundraiser.

"We’ve teamed up with Grand Image Design to do an online shirt fundraiser," told Kaylee Vanbeselaere, Online Shirt Fundraiser Chair for the Weyburn Humane Society. "There are t-shirts and sweaters and options for adults and children. All order are due by November 15th to ensure the shirts will be done in time for Christmas. Once the online store closes the shirts will be ordered and made. When they are ready, Grand Image Design will notify you when they can be picked up. They will be available for pick up directly at Grand Image. We also have a shipping option for the people who reside outside of Weyburn. The funds from this fundraiser will go to general operating costs as well as vet bills. We currently have a cat that requires a leg amputation and we are receiving numerous cats with upper respiratory infections. Fundraisers such as the shirt fundraiser are very important to the Weyburn Humane Society as it helps us to be able to ensure all strays get exceptional care and medical attention, provide staff with all necessary equipment to maintain a fast and efficient work place and most importantly it helps the animals be taken care of until their forever family finds them."

As well the Humane Society is continuing their year-round bottle collection that raises funds for their Spay & Neuter program. And they are running a Cheer Basket Raffle from November 15th to December 21st. If you would like to purchase tickets ($5 each) or learn more information about any of their current fundraisers please visit the official Weyburn Humane Society website. You can also follow them on Facebook or give them a call at (306) 848-7387. Thank you for supporting our local Humane Society!
