Regina International Film Festival and Awards (RIFFA) is back for another year celebrating filmmakers all over the world.  In its seventh year, RIFFA will screen approximately 139 films from approximately 80 different countries.

With so many films being screened, RIFFA creates a film lover's haven. From dramas, comedy, and social justice to documentaries, there is sure to be something for everyone from ages 5 to 105.

Some key highlights of the event include the Global Citizen Series and the Canadian Dialogue Series.

“I'd be so excited for people to take advantage of both the Canadian Dialogue Series and the Global Citizen Series,” said Director of Marketing and Communications, Timothy Lenko. “There's a documentary in the Canadian Dialogue series called A Better Man, which explores masculinity and domestic violence, and following the documentary, there's going to be a panel of people who are working in domestic violence and safety for women.”

“Twice Colonized is about truth and reconciliation. Connecting the Dots is about mental health and youth, and all these are free to attend with a Regina Public Library borrower’s card,” added Lenko.

Whether it’s a date night or a family outing, moviegoers are in for a unique experience with the RBC Moonlight series located outside at City Square Plaza and Victoria Park.

“These are really approachable recognizable movies like Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Dungeons and Dragons Honor Among Thieves, and Pixar’s Light Year, and these are free to attend,” continued Lenko.

Festival goers will also be able to enjoy the Vendors Market, which will be host to numerous artisans and will be located inside and outside of the Cornwall Centre.

Budding filmmakers can look forward to the Networking Series which will take place at Hotel Saskatchewan as well as the Industry Series which will take place at The Studio in the Cornwall Centre. The University of Regina is also helping host the event with many films being screened in the Shu-Box.

The festival will kick off on August 1 and run until August 5. For more details on the film festival and to purchase in-person or digital screening tickets you can go to the RIFFA website here
