It's going to be a busy weekend for Weyburn hockey teams.

"Hockey Weekend in Saskatchewan is here and Weyburn is once again going to celebrate this coming weekend," said Terri Stadnek, Executive Manager of Weyburn Minor Hockey.  "There's so much going on at the rink, tons and tons of games being played in both arenas on Friday Night, Saturday and Sunday from initiation all the way up to midget"

The action starts this afternoon. The Weyburn Curling Club is going to be hosting a "Saucer Pass to the Button" competition from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. today and tomorrow. The goal is to pass a hockey puck from the hack to the button. Winners will be announced at tonight's Red Wings game and tomorrow's Gold Wings game.

There is also going to be A LOT of hockey games.

"Of course we have our Red Wing game on Friday night," said Stadnek. "It's minor hockey night so any player who wears a minor hockey jersey or team clothing of some sort will get in for free that night and the Gold Wings have offered to do the same for their games Saturday night and Sunday afternoon."

On top of the Gold Wings and Red Wings games, the majority of Weyburn Minor Hockey teams will also be on the ice this weekend.

"We just want to showcase all of our awesome players and their families and all of our volunteers," added Terri. "It's also a way to thank our sponsors. We try to showcase everybody through the weekend and hope to get as many fans as we can out to watch."
