It was recently announced that Keith Keating is taking over as the Director of Education with the Southeast Cornerstone Public School Division.

Keating has been with the division for 22 years, previously serving as a teacher, principal, superintendent, and Deputy Director of Education. He is replacing the current Director of Education Lynn little, who is retiring following her 35-year career in education at the end of the school year.

“It's very exciting,” said Keating. “I'm very humbled and honored to be given the opportunity. I know it's a very large and complex role, but we have so many excellent staff, students, and parents that I'm very positive about the future of the school division.”

Keating said that a highlight for him has been working with the great people in this part of the province.

“It's amazing when you look at what all of those people working together can do to make a difference in the lives of students. I really think if we can shine a light on something, it's about all the great things that are happening with our students, whether it's academic or extracurricular, I think those are the things that we really need to celebrate.”

He said that he is looking forward to the transition process at the end of the school year, and hopes there will be a more normal start to the next school year than in recent years.

“It's already been a great thing to be able to see schools and communities coming back together again, watching schools become the hub of those communities as they have been in the past. I'm very positive this will continue to grow as we welcome everybody back into our schools.”

He added that he is optimistic about all of the good things that will happen in the division.
