The summer break is over for teachers. All over the city, teachers are back to work today as they prepare for the first day of classes for students on Thursday.

In the Southeast Cornerstone School Division, there are 32 new teachers starting work today, and Director of Education with the School Division Marc Casavant says he's looking forward to working with the fresh faces.

It's the second year for Casavant at the helm of the school division and he feels there's a good vision in place moving forward. "We are really looking forward to the new year. We've got a year under our belt, in terms of my time with the board and we have direction and a vision set for the next three years, so we're really excited."

One of those visions moving forward is the renovation project at the Weyburn Comprehensive. Casavant says, "We are hoping to move things along so that at Christmas time, we get the architects plans approved and get some money flowing from Ministry to get the project started."

Enrolment numbers for the school division will be announced at their next board meeting September 16th.
