SaskPower reported a large unplanned outage for their service areas in the Southeast this morning. Communities South of Weyburn to the U.S Border and East of Weyburn to the Manitoba Border unexpectedly lost power shortly after 9:00 a.m. due to an issue at a local power station.

Crews were immediately dispatched to assess the cause of the outage and determine a solution, and were able to restore power within 30 minutes of the outage for the 17,000 customers who were affected.

Radio transmitters for AM1190, Country 106.7, and Magic 103.5 were affected by this outage causing coverage areas to be reduced while operating on backup power.

Below is a map displaying the areas affected by the outage, which has now been resolved.
