A Weyburn firefighter is participating in the 2024 Saskatchewan Fire Fighters Calendar Selection Night coming up on April 22nd at Casino Regina.

Jola Bell-Erb is one of 16 firefighters competing for the spots in the calendar, for which anyone can vote at 50¢ per vote.

"You will not only help support my goal of making it onto the 2024 calendar but you will also more importantly support Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation," she shared.

In fact, 100% of proceeds go to the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation.

"This hits very close to home for me, because I was one of those young children who did have to spend time in the children's hospital receiving medical care and attention when I was younger," said Bell-Erb. "I'm very thankful I was able to have that opportunity as a child."

"That was one of the main reasons why I chose to participate. I'm doing it for a good cause and I'm showing how much I care. Not only that, but I'm doing this because it has pushed me to come out of my comfort zone and try new things. I have been debating this idea for many years and I told myself this is my year!"

She said she hopes what she's doing inspires others who have that fear of not being able to put themselves out there and show people what they can do.

"Everyone has the ability to do anything you just need to put your mind to it. It does take time and a lot of effort and maybe even some failures but those failures teach you how to overcome those obstacles and they push you to achieve your goals with greater determination than ever before."
