A man with an outstanding warrant was arrested after carrying a large sword in public on Friday.

Weyburn Police Officers located the man and took him into custody.

“Some concerned citizens called in saying that they saw a adult male that was carrying a what appeared to be a sword,” Deputy Police Chief Brent VanDeSype said. “Officers did locate the male and speak to him. It was like a collector kind of sword and he was looking to sell it to somebody else.”

VanDeSype said police warned him about the sword.

“He was just waiting to show it to someone, so he was spoken to in that regard, but he was also found to have an outstanding warrant from a different police agency.”

VanDeSype said he’s glad the man wasn’t intending to use the sword.

The man was taken into custody as he was found to have an outstanding warrant. He was released with and upcoming court date in the jurisdiction of the agency holding the warrant.
