The Weyburn Midget AA Beavers ran into tough competition Thursday night, as they dropped both games of a doubleheader in Lumsden.

In the first game, all the scoring came in the first inning, and things became defensive from there. The Beavers started off the scoring with thanks to a triple to right from Walker Happ. An error allowed him to cross home plate, giving the visitors a 1-0 edge.

In the bottom of the inning, the Cubs scored two runs, putting the pressure on the Weyburn bats to overcome the one run deficit.

Neither team would be able to cross home plate again, though, with a final score of 2-1.

Jaxon Robertson went the distance on the mound in the game.

In the second game, the Beavers were unable to get anything going offensively against Lumsden pitcher Ryeln Martel. He allowed just three hits through seven innings, as the Cubs beat the Beavers 4-0.

Braden Birnie went the distance on the mound for the Beavers.

The Beavers are now 13-5-1 on the season. They are back in action Saturday against the Regina White Sox.
