It was a fairly busy weekend for Weyburn minor hockey teams. 

Pee Wee

The Pee Wee AA Young Fellow Wings were at home for a pair of games against the Yorkton Pee Wee Terriers over the weekend.

Friday night, the Wings skated to a 6-2 win. Ryder Gilroy scored twice, with other goals scored by Langston gold, Morgan Lacoste, Brennan Brown and Kaleb Sheasby.

On Saturday, the Terriers were the ones to come away victorious with a 6-3 final. Weyburn’s three goals came from Langston Gold, who scored twice, and Justin Whitrow.

The next league game for the Pee Wee AA Wings is October 30th, when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors at Crescent Point Place.

The Pee Wee Canadian Tire Gold Wings were at home to the Swift Current Ice Cats Friday night in the Sports Arena. The Ice Cats would come away with an 11-6 win.

Weyburn’s goals came from Zoe Kerr, who finished with a hat trick, Ella Schenher who had a pair of goals, and Brianna Fleck.

Saturday, the Pee Wee Young Fellow Gold Wings hosted the Parkland Fire and picked up a 9-1 victory. Bostyn Runge had four goals in the game, with Marlie Fleck and Addison Greve notching two each. Brielle Baker rounded out the scoring.

Sunday afternoon, the Young Fellow Gold Wings and Parkland Fire played again, and the Gold Wings again getting a win, this time 4-2. Amy Roemer had two goals, with Greve and Hadley Gerle each scoring one.

Bantam

The Bantam AA Whitecap Wings were at home for two games, hosting Moose Jaw on Saturday and Swift Current Sunday.

Saturday the Wings won in dominating fashion, routing the visiting Warriors 13-1. Noel Englot and Carter Skarbon each had a hat trick in the win, with Silas Stein and Andon Hoff adding two more goals each. Blaze Gutzke, Quinn Mantei and Tyson Haslund rounded out the scoring for Weyburn.

The strong play on home ice continued Sunday afternoon as the Wings picked up a 9-3 win over Swift Current. Englot finished with four goals, while Sjkarbon added two more. Stein, Mantei and Whyatt Lacoste also picked up goals in the win. Gutzke finishing the game with five assists.

Midget

The Midget AA John Hulbert Construction Wings were on the road for a pair of games. The first was Saturday in Lumsden, where they took on the Lions, then in Regina Monday against the Regina Capitals.

Saturday, the Wings fell 6-1 to Lumsden. The lone goal for Weyburn was scored by Levi Dayman. Monday, the Wings dropped a 4-2 decision to the Capitals.

The Midget AA Southeast Gold Wings were in Saskatoon for the Challenge Cup on the weekend and came away with the tournament title.

The Gold Wings opened the tournament with a 1-1 tie against the Peace Country Storm. The lone goal of the game for the Gold Wings was scored by Kiera Pittman in the third period.

Then, later Friday, the Gold Wings shut out the Warman Wildcats 6-0. Khloe Bedore had a hat trick and Jaycee McLellan scoring two goals of her own. The other goal came from the stick of Mckenna Walls.

Saturday afternoon the team from the Southeast doubled up the Regina Rebels 4-2. Kendra Kotylak, Gracie Hillrud, Bedore and Marci Leblanc all scored for the Gold Wings in the win. 

The team then had the evening off, before taking the ice Sunday afternoon against the Swift Current Wildcats. The Gold Wings skated toa 6-1 win. Leblanc scored twice, with singles added by Kotylak, Bedore, Walls and Ally Park.

In the finals the Gold Wing splayed the Peace Country Storm again. This time, the Gold Wings would come away victorious, getting a 5-3 victory. Bedore scored twice, with singles from Dalis Prawdzik, Walls and McLellan.
