Norm and Shirley Mondor have been supporting vital non-profit organizations in Weyburn for the better part of a decade, making large annual donations to see these programs thrive. Executive director of The Family Place, Dawn Gutzke, said that the Mondor family's support has been invaluable to the growth they have experienced through the years.

"They started donating annually to us just about eight years ago, in memory of their grandson," shared Gutzke. "They've just continued on the tradition here and it's been a true blessing for The Family Place, adding up to quite a bit of money through the years! Truthfully, this annual donation is one of the reasons why The Family Place has been able to grow and expand throughout the years."

Their $10,000 donation will do wonders for covering the expenses that grants and government funding can't quite fulfill. Gutzke shed some light on where these 'gaps' typically lay in their annual budget.

"There are lots of overhead costs when you're running an organization," she explained. "We have a large building, so just snow removal and power and energy can really add up. Sometimes grants don't cover those costs, so money like that is very, very precious to us. Now we can just fill those gaps without stressing and worrying!"

Norm and Shirley also paid a visit to the Weyburn Salvation Army and made a valued donation of another $10,000 to their Christmas Kettles. The money raised by the Kettle program goes directly back into purchasing food for the Food Bank, which sees approximately 2,500 pounds of food leave their shelves each week.

"It goes a long way towards meeting our Kettle goals," said Nicole Strickland, Community Ministries Worker for the Salvation Army. "All of the money that goes into the Kettles will stay right here in Weyburn. It really helps us keep our doors open here."

"They're extremely generous people, and they are wonderful for our community."
