When the elusive pooch Willy found himself being pursued by the Prairie Sky Dog Rescue, he decided to put on a chase that ended up lasting for nearly a month. Willy was able to escape a fenced-off enclosure early in June and was able to evade capture until late last week.

"He was fast. He was very very fast. He came from a situation where he was kind of always wild," said Jeannine Kater with Prairie Sky Dog Rescue. "As far as not wanting to get caught, it was easy for him."

Roughly 20 volunteers pursued the elusive pooch with a variety of means including traps, the use of ATV's and even a drone to help spot Willy. However, Willy was not only able to avoid capture, but also taunt his pursuers.

"We had numerous calls and sightings, he was even spotted on a security camera in town," Kater added. "He will be going into foster care again for about two weeks."

Willy was eventually captured after wandering into someone's home following their own dog. The homeowner then contacted Prairie Sky Dog Rescue after closing the door behind Willy, thus putting the nearly month-long pursuit to rest.

After the two week trial period in foster care, Willy will be put up for adoption. However, Kater urges future owners to invest a little more money into a harness-type leash and a proper fenced off backyard in order to avoid a similar pursuit in the future.
