Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Weyburn and the surrounding areas just before 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, with favourable conditions for the development of severe thunderstorms that could produce strong winds, hail, and heavy rain.

The system that is responsible will be moving in from the west. The system has prompted some funnel cloud advisories in the southwest part of the province. As it moves to the east, the storms are expected to reach the southeast corner of the province in the late afternoon and early evening. There is a chance more than one storm cell could move through the area.

The weather for tomorrow is expected to be calmer throughout the region, with a chance of scattered showers.
