With the mild weather in Southeastern Saskatchewan keeping the ground relatively free of snow, the snow removal crews of Weyburn have had a lax season despite a rough start in October with an early snowfall.

However, this does not mean the crews have been sitting idle. Due to the weather going from warm days to cool nights, the roads are quick to become icy. The crews have focused on sanding intersections and keeping the roads from growing too icy.

"We've been very fortunate that we haven't had a lot of snow coming down," said Public Relations Coordinator with the City of Weyburn, Adam Hoffart. "Around Christmas time there was a bit of snow removal downtown but overall we've been pretty lucky."

With snowfall expected for this coming weekend, crews are preparing to hit the roads. They will begin with primary routes before moving onto secondary routes and service roads after that.
