The Government of Saskatchewan has recently announced three new, one-time grants to support regulated early learning and child care centres and homes across the province.

The $44 million investment in one-time grants will help to offset the costs of inflation, support preventative maintenance and repairs of centres, and provide funding for outdoor winter play equipment.

Discover Weyburn reached out to the Ministry of Education for additional comment, and Chelsey Balaski, Senior Media Relations Consultant, responded with the following:

"Child care centres and homes have until February 10th, 2023, to apply for the Winter Season and Operating Grants. Child care centres have until February 24th, 2023, to apply for the Preventative Maintenance and Repair Grant."

The funding for the grants is provided through the Canada-Saskatchewan Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement signed in August of 2021.

Early learning and Child Care centres in Weyburn have expressed an interest in applying for the grants.

Grant applications have been or will be distributed to regulated child care centres and homes by the Ministry of Education Early Years branch.
