While many are talking about the race for the leadership of the Saskatchewan Party, a new name is vying for the leadership of the Saskatchewan NDP.

"I think there is a real movement getting younger, we're trying to bring millennials into the party," says Matt Caudill, the President of the Weyburn - Big Muddy NDP Constituency Association. "I think that's it a really strong suit and Regina and Saskatoon NCP seems to be rallying and getting a lot stronger we're hoping this is going to move out to the other constituencies."

Trent Wotherspoon, who had served as the interim leader of the party when Cam Broten stepped down threw his hat in on Wednesday morning. Wotherspoon joins Ryan Meili, MLA for Saskatoon Meewasin, as the only candidates to announce they will be running.

"It's exciting to have more than just one choice out there," says Caudill. "I think with everything happening in Saskatchewan right now with the budgets and everything fresh in everyone's minds it's a real opportunity for the NDP to move forward."

The Saskatchewan NDP hasn't seen a majority government since 2003. The Saskatchewan NDP will be holding their convention next May.
