With the long weekend here, many in the Southeast will be heading out to the lake to enjoy the weather.

"There's going to be a lot of people out on the water and conservation officers, city police, and the RCMP will be out on the water patrolling," said Conservation Officer Lindsey Leko. "we're going to be looking for anchors, making sure they're following the rules, and we're going to be doing boating enforcement as well, which includes alcohol."

"We seem to have an issue sometimes with people wanting to consume alcohol while boating. It's a deadly mix. You want to make sure you leave the liquor at home. Consumption of any alcohol on a boat is unlawful," said Leko.

Drinking on a boat is considered Impaired Driving and is treated just as severely as if a person had been driving a car.
